โœ๐Ÿผ On August 15, 2021, Afghanistan fell to Taliban control. Three years later, we asked war correspondent and writer Hollie McKay to reflect on her time spent in Afghanistan in the late summer of 2021, where she found herself effectively trapped as the country fell under Taliban control. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukraine launches offensive attack into Russiaโ€™s Kursk region. "Russia brought war to others, and now it is coming home."

๐Ÿ“‰ Annual inflation rate hits lowest since March 2021. "Coming down but the sticky areas continue to be sticky."

Five charged in Matthew Perry's death. ๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿฟ What's happening with Jordan Chiles? We covered the bronze medal drama over the Olympic gymnastic floor routine earlier this week, while we awaited a decision on the appeal brought by USA Gymnastics. That appeal was unsuccessful, and Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu received the bronze medal in a ceremony on Friday. Chiles responded to the decision Thursday on Instagram, calling the decision "unjust" and "a significant blow":

๐Ÿ’‰ Positive side effects? A recently published study found weight loss injections like Wegovy and Ozempic could help reduce the risk of developing certain obesity-related cancers.

๐ŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday, 101st! On August 16, 1942, the 101st Airborne Division activated at Camp Clairborne, LA. Easy Company of the 101st are widely known as the Band of Brothers, and they played an important role during the D-Day invasion in Normandy France that changed the course of world history during World War 2. Earlier this year, Jenna visited Normandy France to mark D-Day's 80th anniversary and learned an incredible story about the mission of Easy Company paratroopers on D-Day.

The battle happened in the early hours after the paratroopers landed during the D-Day Invasion. Nearby, heavy German firepower rang from the farmland, aimed at American soldiers. The order given to Easy Company officer in charge, First Lieutenant Dick Winters? "Take care of it."

And they did.

And behind the scenes here is how the debate is shaping up among the SmartHER News team: "I've been noticing the same thing, especially with the NYT using 's and most everyone else not.
