🎙️ On the Podcast: Is Pink ... The New Black ... For Prisoners?

It's our TGIF segment: ANYTHING BUT POLITICS!

A Texas sheriff believes the color pink may be the missing secret sauce for his jail. In this Friday edition of our "Anything But Politics" segment, Jenna maps out the arguments for, and against, the fashion choice for prisoners. Plus, a related tangent ... we tell you a bit about the woman behind this quote and why she mattered: “If Mabel had worn trousers, she could have been president.”

🗞️ The Weekly Roundup.

President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order on Thursday to begin the process of dismantling the Department of Education "to the maximum extent appropriate and permitted by law," according to the Executive Order. Before signing the order, President Trump said the department’s functions related to Pell grants, Title 1 and funding for children with disabilities will be "preserved in full and redistributed to various other agencies and departments."

Before he announced the Executive Order on the Department of Education, President Trump briefly mentioned his call with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine, saying "I believe we'll get it done." According to the White House, President Putin conceded to halt strikes on Ukrainian energy and infrastructure targets for 30 days. On Wednesday, President Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke, and both leaders agreed on a partial ceasefire against energy targets saying Ukraine is "ready to implement it." Though nothing has been signed, various meetings with officials from Ukraine, the U.S. and Russia are expected to take place in Saudi Arabia next week.

Welcome home! Astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore originally had a week-long mission to space, but it turned into nine months due to technical issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. The two returned to Earth this week with SpaceX. Check out this incredible video of the crew being welcomed back to Earth by dolphins. 🦈

Released: On Tuesday, the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration posted more than 63,000 pages of records pertaining to Pres. Kennedy's assassination. It will take more than a few days to sort through it all, but we compiled a few reactions from experts HERE.

"Uncertainty around the economic outlook has increased" reported the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, as it noted recent policy changes by the new Trump administration as one reason for a heightened risk environment. How can you stay steady and succeed when so much feels in flux? New York Times best-selling author and entrepreneur (who is also a one-time journalist!) Codie Sanchez joins us with some fresh perspective.

🗣️ Conversation Starters.

Where's the happiest place on earth? Finland, of course (for the eighth year in a row). The 13th annual World Happiness Report polled people around the world about their lives, and European countries represented most of the top 20 spots. Also reported, the number of people eating alone has increased more than 50%. Is this because of smartphones? Anyway, the U.S. dropped to its lowest-ever position, coming in at 24...🥴

Forever 21? More like For-never 21. 😭 Sadly, the retail giant filed for bankruptcy and plans to close all of its U.S. stores. You have until May 1 to dig through racks and piles of "going out tops" for one last time.

Want an NIL deal but not an athlete? It's possible! A McNeese State basketball manager became the first student manager to get an NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal — actually three! Amir Khan went viral after leading his team out of the tunnel and rapping. He has since signed deals with brands including Buffalo Wild Wings, Tick Pick and Insomnia Cookies.
