Depending on your state, you may have Monday off for the federal holiday of Columbus Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, or a combination of both — of course, some folks may not have the day off at all, but banks and post offices (and often schools) will all be closed.

Last year, we recorded a special report on the backstory of this day. In case you're looking for a little dash of history, I wanted to share this with you again ... Did you know anti-Italian sentiment inspired Columbus Day? I didn't ... and I'm Italian-American! It's a story that I didn't learn until recently and I look forward to doing some more reporting on this topic in the future.
